Redmond, Wash. - Jessiah Johnson has been named to the Sammamish junior coaching staff after coaching stints at Mount Baker and the University of Washington. Johnson began rowing in high school for the Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing Center, winning a national championship in the varsity 4+ as a junior. Following high school, he was recruited to row for the University of Washington where he won national championships in 2006, 2007 and 2009.
“I know from personal experience that he will be a very valuable asset to the team” said interim head coach Dennis Ferrer. “We are very fortunate to have a coach with Jesse’s background joining the team.” Johnson brings to Sammamish years of demonstrated success at both the high school and intercollegiate level. While coaching at Washington, he worked under legendary freshmen coach Luke McGee, now coach of the United States Men’s National Team. Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Washington and currently works as a business system analyst for CDK Global. Comments are closed.
