BOATHOUSE GRAND OPENING, SEPTEMBER 25

9/21/2016

We’re having a party … and everyone is coming!  The Grand Opening of the boathouse on September 25 will be SRA’s biggest event ever, and we’re expecting well over 700 people.  It will be a great, big, family reunion. Below are some logistics that will help make an event of this size go smoothly.

Parking at SRA
  • Park at SRA only if you are carpooling and willing to be double- or triple-parked.  Understand that it may take a long time before you are able to get your car out of the lot once the event is over.
  • A certain number of spots in the south lot will be set aside for volunteers, dignitaries, and elected officials.  Volunteers will assist with parking in both lots; think of them as coxswains and please do whatever they say.

Parking at Marymoor
  • Parking will be available in Marymoor Park, Lot B for $1. Please be respectful of other people using the park that day. Look for the SRA trailer!
  • SRA will run shuttles between Marymoor Lot B and our parking lot beginning at 12:00 p.m. Allow plenty of time to park, wait for a shuttle, and get to the boathouse. Shuttles will run throughout the event until 4:00 p.m.
  • If possible, bring a bike and ride from Marymoor to SRA, or enjoy the short walk.

Schedule
  • Doors open at 1 pm.  Arrive early and enjoy an open-house walkthrough to check out all the spaces in our new home.  Catch up with friends, and enjoy light refreshments on the apron.
  • Ceremonies (including remarks by SRA Olympian Hans Struzyna and the unveiling of the boathouse’s new name) get underway at 2 p.m., on the path outside the main entrance.

Get Social!
  • Share your experience and pictures on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.

Weather
  • The rowers’ creed:  dress for the weather.  The Grand Opening will happen rain or shine, so be prepared.

Sammamish Spirit
  • Show your team spirt by wearing your SRA uniform, fan gear, or other red, white and blue attire.
