JUNIOR LEARN TO ROW
ADULT LEARN TO ROW – SUMMER 2025
Adult Learn to Row (LTR) is a six-week, two-part beginner program for adults (18+) of all ages and fitness levels with no prior rowing experience. Sammamish Rowing Association offers Adult Learn to Row in summer only, due to weather and low-light conditions during the rest of the year.
- In fall, students going into grades 8-12 can learn to row and try out for Sammamish Rowing Association’s high school team through Try Rowing, a three-week mutual evaluation period to see if the team is a good fit.
- In summer, students going into grades 9-12 can learn to row by attending SRA’s high school Jump Start camp. Students going into grade 8 (7th graders go on a waitlist) can learn to row by attending middle school camp.

LEARN TO ROW 1
Discover the basics of rowing with a mix of land and water training in six classes over three weeks. Participants will gain insight into rowing and work on the skills needed to progress to SRA’s more rigorous Learn to Row 2 course. Prerequisite: no rowing experience necessary; must be able to swim. Coach approval required to advance to Learn to Row 2.
LEARN TO ROW 2
Approved participants from Learn to Row 1 will build on the basics acquired in Learn to Row 1 in this more extensive, intensive course. In six classes over three weeks, participants will expand their foundational rowing skills on land and water and learn what it takes to row year-round at SRA. After completing Learn to Row 2 and with approval from their Learn to Row 2 coach, rowers will have the opportunity to join one of SRA’s three masters teams. Prerequisite: successful completion of Learn to Row 1 and coach approval to join Learn to 2. Sign-up link for Learn to Row 2 will be provided to approved Learn to Row 1 participants.
After Learn to Row
After successful completion of Learn to Row 1 and 2 and subject to coach approval, rowers are eligible to join one of SRA's masters teams as a novice. Practice switches from two days a week in LTR to three days a week on different days. Check the masters page for schedule details.
After one novice season, rowers can continue with the team and/or choose a Small-Boat Membership to row independently, subject to coach approval.

- July/August Learn to Row 1: July 14-August 7, no class July 21-24
- August Learn to Row 2: August 11-28
- DAYS AND TIMES
- 5 a.m.: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-7 a.m.
- Mid-morning: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30-10:30 a.m.
- Evening: Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

- Learn to Row 1: $156 + $10 Learn-to-Row USRowing membership
- Learn to Row 2: $156
- Early bird pricing for Learn to Row 1 in effect until two weeks before session start
- Additional cost: $1 daily parking pass (pay at metal box by parking lot kiosk)

Requirements, Resources, and Attendance Policy
- Must pass a swim test. For test form, FAQs, policies, and resources, click here.
- Attendance policy: Learn to Row is a concentrated series that packs a lot of information into a short period of time, so attendance is essential.
- Learn to Row 1 participants are allowed one absence in the two-week course.
- Learn to Row 2 participants are allowed two absences in the four-week course.
- Participants who exceed the number of allowed absences will fall behind quickly, may not be allowed to advance to the next level, and should discuss with their coach.
