Executive Director Position Now Open

Sammamish Rowing Association (SRA), a non-profit rowing organization serving over 500 youth and adult athletes, seeks an Executive Director (ED) with a passion for sports and an understanding of the important role athletics and community play in the lives of individuals of all ages.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
The Executive Director provides the strategic vision and organizational leadership to ensure SRA has a deep and positive impact on the lives of the rowing membership and the community, and a fiscally sustainable future to support the strategic growth of the organization. Responsibilities include supporting SRA’s mission and values through strategic leadership, staff and operational management, financial administration, fundraising and development, and community and member relations.

The ED is accountable to the Board of Directors (BOD) and will collaborate with the BOD to build and refine SRA’s annual budget and goals outlined in the Strategic Plan. SRA is a lean organization where the ED will have direct operational responsibilities to lead, contribute, and ensure execution that is timely and on budget.

Specific responsibilities include:
● Provide a clear and focused vision for furthering SRA’s mission and goals.
● Build, foster, and maintain positive relationships with coaches, staff, members, the BOD, and the
community.
● Empower coaches to further the development of the youth and adult rowing programs and individual
athletes.
● Maintain financial health and integrity of SRA including annual budget preparation and management,
and compliance with applicable tax regulations, grant requirements, and policies.
● Partner with the BOD to evolve and build SRA’s fundraising and development strategy and manage
execution with SRA staff and team of volunteers.
● Collaborate with and represent SRA’s interest with local government, King County Parks, media, regional
rowing clubs, US Rowing, and other national/international rowing communities.
● Travel regionally and sometimes nationally and attend events outside regular work hours or on
weekends as necessary.

The successful candidate will have a passion for the mission of SRA and an understanding of operating multifaceted programs. Outstanding written and verbal communications skills are essential as are strategic and effective planning capabilities. This position serves a diverse rowing and staff population. The ED must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts in all aspects of the role.

Required Qualifications
● Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic leadership roles in athletics.
● Strong management expertise of people and culture, and experience in running and managing day-to-
day operational infrastructure, meetings, and communications.
● Bachelor's degree.
● Passionate leadership, demonstrated interpersonal awareness, and the ability to work flexibly and
effectively with a diverse population.
● Creativity, sound judgment, effective problem solving, and decision making.
● Excellent communications abilities, verbally and in writing of the English language.
● Budget and financial management.
● Proficiency in the use of basic computer applications.
● Successfully pass background check.
● Maintain tobacco and marijuana-free environment.
● Maintain relevant certifications and Safe Sport rules.

Preferred Qualifications
● Leadership experience with a nonprofit organization.
● Current knowledge of applicable US Rowing rules and standards.
● Specialized knowledge of the sport of rowing.
● Organizational fundraising and development experience
